SOS Children’s Village Bambous SOS Children’s Village Bambous is located at Bambous in the rural District of Black River. It is the second SOS Children’s Village built in Mauritius and consists of 12 Family Houses. The first children were welcomed in the Children’s Village in November 2003.
The Village provides residential care for some 45 children. The youngest child is two years old and the eldest is 16. The Kindergarten of SOS Children’s Village Bambous welcomes around 90 kids each day. The main regular services of the Children’s Village are remedial education, psychological support and literacy. It also accommodates the outreach Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) for the prevention of child abandonment, the Hermann Gmeiner Training Centre, named after the founder of SOS Children’s Villages Organisation, and the Vocational Education and Training (VET).
